School Health Program (Student Eye Screening)
Many students suffer from refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) and other eye-related health issues without realizing it, significantly hindering their academic performance. To address this, Al-Basar International Foundation launched a School Health Program over the past two decades in Sudan, Niger, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Yemen, in collaboration with local Ministries of Health and Education.
Program Scope
- Targeted Conditions: Refractive errors, cataracts, strabismus, trachoma, and other eye diseases.
- Interventions:
- Comprehensive eye screenings
- Free eyeglass distribution
- Medication provision
- Surgical referrals for critical cases
Impact (By God’s Grace)
Over 1 million students screened and treated, with results including:
- Sudan: 750,000 students
- Pakistan: 15,574 students
- Niger: 91,655 students
- Bangladesh: 203,851 student
