Al-Basar International Foundation concluded its specialized medical campaign in ophthalmology and eye surgery in the Jordanian capital, Amman, from January 16 to 21, 2026, in cooperation with local partners, the Medical Aid Association and Al-Khansa Hospital. The campaign aimed to provide free healthcare to the most needy segments of the population.
During the campaign, the specialized medical team was able to examine 1,713 patients and provide them with the necessary treatments and medication. It also successfully performed 436 cataract removal surgeries, which helped restore the blessing of sight to many cases suffering from visual impairment or the risk of blindness. Services also included distributing 450 prescription glasses for vision correction and protective sunglasses.
The campaign was supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, as part of the partnership between the Foundation and the King Salman Relief Center to provide specialized medical services in different regions of the world. This stems from their shared humanitarian responsibility and commitment to alleviating suffering and serving humanity wherever it may be.
Dr. Shaban Wafi, the Regional Director of Al-Basar International Foundation – Asia Office, explained that Al-Basar Foundation’s campaigns follow a practical methodology focusing on accurate diagnosis and appropriate intervention, starting from free screenings all the way to surgeries. He added that the results of this campaign in Amman embody the direct positive impact on the lives of individuals and the community, as a patient returns after surgery to become an active member of their family and society once again. He extended sincere thanks and appreciation to the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for the strategic partnership and continuous support that makes achieving these humanitarian accomplishments possible.
